2006 Summer Events
.SAT--April 29 First Club 2006 Outing. Charlie has invited us out to his place in Guliver, for a Spring Tune up and maybe a fire and the club to pick some Hot Dogs and pop. Charlie has 40 acres with some sand hills in the back, He says if the hills are not big enough he will take his diesel tractor and make the bigger! We may also take a ride down the River Road with some side trails exploring. This is a good way to work out them spring bugs and have a fun day doing it.
Sat -May-13 --Danaher trail clean up, needs to be completed by May 31. I know it's not all fun but last year we did have a good time over all. Just nice to get outdoors and do some riding, the exercise is a plus. Plan on a all day event (bring lunch and drinks). The group will split into two, starting on the South side each group will take a trail side (east, west) and brush till they meet on the North side. Other must have items and good pruning shears, bow saw, and garbage bag, also nice to have GMRS radio and cell phone. One person in each group will need hammer for confident marker installation. A GPS would also be great to mark waypoints of areas that will need further attention, this run just to complete confident markers and brushing. This year the club will reimburse mileage and lunch cost to some fixed amount yet to be determined.
Tuesday Env May 30 GPS Ghost Run.. 7pm ride from Roger and Karen's house out into the Garden Plains. This ride will take us to the old Cooks Cemetery where we will solve clues and try and locate a Geocache in the area. I think we will have enough daylight but if we run late bring flash light and jackets for a night ride back to start as we may take the long route. And don't forget your GPS, pencil and paper to work out the clues.
Sat- June 10--Ride from Joe's house in Manistique up the Haywire grade have lunch in Shingleton and head on back. This will be a fun event and also allow club members to become familiar with the layout of the Haywire grade..This will be a nice easy ride of about 70 miles and should be completed 6 or so hours with lunch and a few breaks along the way.
Sat Aug 12--Danaher Trail clean up needs to be completed by September 1 2006. This is the final clean up for the fall riding season. Again its not all fun but the group that did the spring had fun and some exercise, not a bad way to spend the day. Again we will split into 2 groups each group taking one side and working till the meet then head back to the parking lot. I expect the club to reimburse mileage and lunch cost at $35 per day per person.
Sept 23 Fall Camping ride at Merwin Creek. Just like last year get together and spent the weekend riding and camping at the Merwin creek. More to come.
Oct 21 Charlies Cook Out and Ride. Members who would like to ride be at Charlies at 12 noon, for a nice fall color ride. We will eat later about 5pm. I hope this is not the last one of the yrear but snow will not be far away so dress warm.
